Pick up Policy Change

Effective December 1, 2025

Hello everyone!

I am sorry to say that we must make a policy adjustment. Amid rising costs, we are trying everything in our power to not raise prices and keep everything fair and affordable. In order to maintain, it is necessary to revise the item pickup policy. As this is a change that affects only a small percentage of our consignors, yet is the one task we spend the most time on, I hope everyone will understand the need for this change. Therefore, we will be changing our pickup policy as of December 1, 2025.

The policy going forward is that we will be:

  • Everyday Items (under $50): After the consignment period, any unsold items automatically stay with the shop. We’ll either keep them in inventory, or donate them on your behalf. That way, you don’t have to worry about tracking or arranging pickups.

  • Sentimental, unique, and high-value items ($50 and up, including wedding dresses, formal wear, luxury handbags, etc.): These items may be picked up if unsold within 7 days after the expiration of the 60-day consignment period. It is the consignor’s responsibility to remember dates and make arrangements for pickups. We need at least 2 days’ advance notice of intent to pick up. If not picked up within this time frame, the items will become shop property.

This means that shirts and blouses will no longer be able to be picked up; however, should you consign something like a mother-of-the-bride dress, you will still be able to reclaim that item. Small household goods, cups, plates, etc., will not be able to be reclaimed, but something like a microwave will be able to be picked up. If you need clarification, please feel free to reach out.

This policy will be in place for all consignors starting December 1, 2025. Any items that are put on consignment before December 1, 2025, will continue under the current pickup policy. If you have an appointment after this date, you will not be able to pick up your everyday items from that appointment. If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please call during business hours or reply to this email.

Most of the lovely consignors that pick up items are so kind as to take the unsold items and donate them to other organizations in the community. Part of the reason I love this business so much is due to being able to support other community organizations by donating our unsold items. I encourage the support of any local cause that is dear to your heart, and if it is a choice between supporting our store or your favorite community organization with your item donations, I completely understand and support making the choice to take items to your community organization. I will continue to do my part in distributing unsold items to organizations in need. TJ’s has been part of the community for 50 years, and I want to honor that community by contributing as much as I can.

Thank you for understanding the need for this change and supporting our store. We love being part of the community and hope we will remain your #1 consignment shop!
